Romanians – cradle of human civilization?!
————————————————————————————————————
Before you start yelling that I’m out of my mind and that my math background should have made me come to my senses let me first state some facts:
- The British really make a fuss over Stonehenge and launch „no-evidence” theories every decade.
- It’s surely not been just one time you watched a Discovery Channel Program about Atlantis/ an ancient civilization that taught us a lot of stuff we wouldn’t normally know etc, etc
- Jung is the one who introduced the theory of synchronicity, the idea being that similar things that happen in the same time actually DO have a connection that our minds see.
————————————————————————————————————-
I am going to begin this story with the fact that to this day, Romanians look upon their national heritage with shame and dream of escaping their pitiful history by immigrating to powerful foreign countries, taking on foreign habits of living, may they be good or bad, and coming back only to show off the success of their transition from humble Romanians to proud non-Romanians. It seems that being a Romanian is a reason to feel guilty or less valuable in some way. Mind you, not in the same way a German feels about his national heritage, being pressed by the guilt of the genocides and faulty principles and thinking Hitler introduced, because a German feels guilty for what his people DID, how his people ACTED. Romanians are ashamed because of our supposedly LACK OF ACTION, our PASSIVITY, our COMONNESS, our LACK OF INVENTIVITY and our allegedly desire to COPY INSTEAD OF CREATE.
Nevermind the great thinkers and artists our nation has given birth to (Caragiale, Enescu, Eliade, Babes, Balasa, Palade, Tanase, Arghezi, Iorga, Brancusi, Steinhardt, Coanda, Paler, C.T. Popescu etc), nevermind the great rulers that lead our people into victory in battles against all odds (Stephan the Great, Mircea the Elder, Vlad the Impaler, Michael the Brave etc), nevermind all the museums, natural and artificial that our country holds (Peles, Ceausescu’s Palace at Olanesti, Palace of the People, Sarmisegetuza, Carpathian Mountains, Danube Delta, Moldavia Monasteries etc), we ALWAYS find something better on the other side of the fence and we ALWAYS discredit what we have. I mean by ALWAYS – the general attitude that the people have, not some bursts of patriotism that have been reported (e.g.: recent mass voting of Brancusi as the best 20th century artist in the world). And I mean by DISCREDIT the attitude of constantly attacking Romanian values. Such an attitude includes the linkage with Ceausescu’s regime lack of principles of human rights to the Palace of the People, Balasa, Stanescu etc, the overall saying that Romanians were never as good as their contemporaneous counterparts outside Romania, that all we created was in fact inspired from other cultures and thus not-worthy(as if the non-Romanian people actually had NO inspiration…), that all the foods, drinks, habits, folk writings and legends etc that we share with at least one other people are actually not ours etc.
As you can see, there is a general wave that makes anything and anyone of value in Romania be powerfully aggressed and discarded.
I’m having trouble finding a reason for this attitude. I could quote Mr. Schopenhauer here: „All truth passes through three stages. First it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident.”, but some Romanians are still stuck in the first phase and they keep bringing others from the third and second to their incapacity to face glory and responsibility of treasuring and defending ones national heritage. I guess it’s easier to resign than fight, right? On the course of this blog entry, I’m going to introduce some theories and facts that have outraged me, not because of the impact of their content on what I know, which is undoubtedly huge, but because I have not known of them until now.
Facts:
1. The oldest writing form was found in Tartarie, Romania and is dated somewhat in 5500-6500 B.C.; The Sumerian writings were thought to be the oldest before this discovery which took place in 1961. The Sumerian writing and people are dated 3000 B.C.
2. The American researcher Marija Gimbutas, a senior professor at U.C.L.A. (the University of Los Angeles, California), states: “Romania is yet to be considered the cradle of what we have been nominating as ‘Ancient Europe’, a vast cultural entity already existing between 6,500-3,500 B.C., which had its foundations based on a theocratic, matriarchal society, peaceful, loving and art creating, and which had preceded the following patriarchal, war oriented Indo-Europeanized societies of warriors all along bronze and iron ages. It has also become quite obvious that this most ancient European civilization precedes with a few millenniums the one of Sumerians, making thus seemingly impossible a hypothesis which considered the war-oriented, violent Sumer civilization as primordial on prehistorically Earth.”
3. If the Thracians-Dacians, the inhabitants of Romania during the invasion of the Romans, didn’t speak Latin in the first place, then the Romans achieved in 165 years of colonization the almost complete erasure or the Dacian language, something they could not do with the people living inside Rome, something that hasn’t been succeeded in more that 1000 years of Magyar domination in Transylvania. Highly improbable. Where did the Thracians learn Latin from then and where did their language disappear?
4. A Dacian named Galenius the Elderly, by his real name Vacarul Armentarius, when voted Emperor of the Romans, changed the name of the „Roman Empire” to the „Dacian Empire”, because he felt that that was exactly it.
5. Greeks say that Aryans originated in Thracia.
6. Macedonians were actually Thracians. Greeks called and still name Macedonians – Vlachs, derivative from Valachia – Southern province from Romania. Valachia was also attributed the meaning of Walhalla by Russian scholars. Spartacus was a Thracian. Alexander the Great was a Macedonian, thus a Thracian.
7. Besides the Indian people, the Thracians (inhabitants of modern Romania and not only) were the largest people among other civilizations and if they united, they could rule all others (Greek writers).
8. Thracia is connected to Veda civilization. In Romanian, the verb „a vedea” = to see. In ancient cultures, seeing often related to knowledge and deep understanding.
9. According to Dr. Giles, expert of Hindus, Aryans – the Carpatho-Danubian population invaded India and formed the highest cast as they were white skinned, not black. A lot of „Veda” names appeared and symbolized the knowing, the texts named SHRUTI or STIUTI (known in Romanian). In the Hindu writings (The Upanishads), the word „om” designates the Supreme Being and yet they don’t fully understand the term themselves. In Romanian, „om” means man and designates a righteous, reliable and noble person. DAVA or DEVA were a kind of gods worshiped by the Sanskrit. It is interesting that we find names such Moldavia = Mol Dava, or the citadel Sucidava = Suci Dava or the city Deva in Romania.
10. American oceanographer Rob Ballard claims Noe’s flood happened here in Romania, by the flooding of the present Black Sea, formerly a lake with sweet water.
11. Pope Ioan Paul the 2nd said that Romania is the Garden of Mother Mary.
12. Thracians were excellent medicine-man, knowing a lot of incantations and nature derived potions (Greek sources)
13. Before the restoration of the monument at Adamclisi, Romania, ancient Sumerian motifs were found at the site, supposedly dated before Sumerians existed.
14. Gebeleizis, or Nebeleizis, was the Thracians’ Supreme Divinity. He was usually depicted on a throne or on a horse. He provoked thunder and lightning and used them as weapons. Zeus is just a synonym for this and was adopted later. „This God embodies the Absolute Master upon Heaven and Earth, the Patron of military aristocracy. He might possess, though, some Uranian- Solar attributes. The Supreme God, the Great God Gebeleizis is also known under the nicknames of Derzelas, Derzis or the Thracian Knight (others consider “THE THRACIAN KNIGHT” as being a later apparition of some Hero and not of a God)”. The term Hero(s) later was attributed to resemble the Sun God Horus (Egypt epigraphic texts confirm Herous term, the son of Horus – there was an inconsistence in Egypt making Horus his own son, something that is present also in Christianity – Christ is the son of God, yet Christ is God).
15. There are connections between several myths and stories in different religions: Jesus - Horus – An (supreme god, the sun with 12 disciples/constellations or zodiac signs), the dispute between two opposing brothers Cain-Abel, Seth-Horus (Egypt), Enki - Enlil (Sumerians), Zamolxis – Nebeleizis (Thracians) etc.
16. Zamolxis and Enki were kings of the underworld and earth. Enlil and Nebeleizis were kings of the winds and thunder and were viewed as the righteous leaders.
17. Zamolxis was able to make humans immortal while Enki wanted to grant humans immortality but to do so he sent them to his father in the sky, where the tree of life resided. Thracians believed that after death they would resurrect in the sky.
18. The Thracians celebrated Nebeleizis in April, with the beginning of new life, making the relationship with Horus even more credible as he was the sun god and god of life.
19. The symbol of the cross is present also in Thracian and Egyptian Mythology, for the former in the form of a four-leaf rosette, for the later, in the form of the ankh and more. It could basically mean the separations of the four seasons.
20. Pieces of Gold found in Egypt Ancient Monuments are stated to be taken out from the Carpathian Mountains.
21. Herodotus, Plinius the old speak of the City of Sun and the Temple of Sun, where the Phoenix resides, located near the Cerna Mountains and Jales Valley, nowadays Arcani – Romania.
22. At Istrita, Romania, the same place has been called the Golden Shed and the Fountain/Rock of the Eagle. The symbol of the Phoenix bird is identified in Thracic Mythology and depicted on an artifact uncovered at Pietroasa. The thesaurus from Pietroasa is lost, taken by the Russians and never returned. Some authors note similarities with happenings when uncovering ancient Egyptian tombs. Terrible curses are cast upon the thieves and death emerges among Romanian and Russian responsibles. The Phoenix symbol can be linked to Horus.
23. Herodotus himself didn’t believe Zamolxis was connected to Pythagoras, let alone a slave of the latter.
Conclusions:
1. Perhaps The Dacians didn’t need to learn Latin because they already knew it (or a vulgar version of it). Perhaps it was their own language. Thracians emerged from the Carpatho-Danubian space and with the coming of the Flood, fled to Western Europe, Italy, Spain, Greece and Asia Minor, we know that. They passed their knowledge, both in terms of myths and language to the inhabitants of those places. The surviving Thracians were conquered in term, by Romans, who were also Thracians, at least partially.
2. Occurring patterns across different civilizations suggest common truth or source of information/inspiration. There are two facets of a supreme deity, good vs. evil, underworld vs. sky. Most often they are brothers and they fight. The cross is a recurring symbol and so is the bird (-head) = wisdom and flight capabilities: the Holy Ghost, Horus, An and Zamolxis. The sky god is associated with the sun and life and seems to be his own son in some myths, fact which could be explained through the Sumerian relationship between An and Enlil. An was Enlil’s father, but both were gods of the sky, Enlil taking the place of An in ruling. Gods often appear to be mortal: Zamolxis, Jesus, Enlil and Enki and to descend upon us and walk among us. Enlil and Nebeleizis have as weapons thunder and lightning. The Sumerian Gods were looking for gold and a blue stone that brings illness (radioactive??). Gold from Thracia was extracted and delivered to Egypt, suggesting that there was a trade route that permitted this and that the two civilizations knew??? each other. They might have answered to the same Gods. Gold is shiny and pretty but why would you harvest a blue stone that brings illness in Sumerian times if there was no “advanced” civilization?
3. The oldest writing found dates back to 5500-6500 B.C. and is found in the Thracian habitation area, where also signs similar to what Sumerians used later were discovered.
Theories:
1. The Thracians were the cradle of all civilization as we know it today, the ones who developed writing and our myths OR/AND were along several centers of culture around the world who emerged in/about the same time with the same beliefs.
2. The first cultural centers of the world were controlled by the same Gods who were real beings but very powerful and different from humans and that taught them knowledge, mated with humans resulting in cross-species breeding and controlled them through thought supremacy and weapons resembling thunder and lightning (easy to imagine in modern-day society). Those Gods had the capabilities of flight and they used it to travel on Earth. Most presumably, they had some flight ships depicted as red- golden Phoenixes(they needed gold for flight???) and the gods capable of flight – with bird characteristics. OR, the people from different locations, actually having very similar brains and way to think, based on what they could observe(night vs. day, the seasons, time passing, life vs. death) developed astonishingly similar myths and beliefs, in the way that one cause triggers similar effects in similar environments.
Again, Before you start yelling that I’m out of my mind and that my math background should have made me come to my senses let me first state some facts:
1. The British really make a fuss over Stonehenge and launch „no-evidence” theories every decade.
2. It’s surely not been just one time you watched a Discovery Channel Program about Atlantis/ an ancient civilization that taught us a lot of stuff we wouldn’t normally know etc, etc
3. Jung is the one who introduced the theory of synchronicity, the idea being that similar things that happen in the same time actually DO have a connection that our minds see.
Bottomline: in the light of the new findings, considering that Sumerians were the cradle of civilization is less reasonable than considering the Thracians were the cradle of civilization(I do remind you, the gods of the Maya were white and had long beards, same as our dear Thracians). History is full of suppositions, so we might as well make ours. Strangely, this hypothesis was lounched by a foreigner, so those of you who rely only on foreign capacity to judge(because you obviously think you’re stupid), you have your argument. So how do you feel now, being the center of the world?

You should try politics :).
I’m kidding since I can only appreciate this entry. Even though I do not necessarily agree on all aspects. U are pretty radical when proposing an idea or it’s just my feeling?
Xaide, Romania has also a very beautiful language! I sometimes found myself in difficulty trying to understand your entries :D.
I found some of sayings:

Bear in mind there is no such word like “dor” in English :))
oups … now with no diacritics: http://ro.wikiquote.org/wiki/Proverbe_rom%C3%A2ne%C5%9Fti
thanks a lot for the link. truth is, I didn’t use Romanian as a language as much as I used English, at least for any kind of research I’ve done.
English is an international language and it’s crucial for a writer, who wants to send a message as visible as possible, to choose a suitable medium for transmitting that message. English & Internet is the best I could find.
I also believe that Romanians are very good at holding “secret” information about the nice things that are present here and great at disclosing or at fabricating flaws of our nation. My mission here is/was to educate people of all nationalities with respect to this subject, not only us, Romanians.
why erich van däniken isn`t intereseted in this culture???????????
multam frate
Hello Xaide,
Thanks for your valuable information towards the Thracian culture. Certainly the Thracians are being underestimated. Herodot wrote the Thracians would be the most powerfull people of the world (if they would unite themselves). They were living near the origin-area for the Proto-Indian-European language.
I am looking for more information about Gebeleizis or Nebeleizis, the Thracians’ Supreme Divinity. I learned the Sun God was being depicted as a 3-headed person riding a horse. They archaeologists did find hundreds of those sculptures in Romania.
Early versions of this deity are 2-faced sculptures and they may belong to the family of androgynous supreme deities, which were common in ancient eras.
Are there any high-resolution photographs for sculptures this 2-headed or 3-headed supreme Thracian deity ?
Thank you for your information!
Regards,
J. Richter
